The EV Roadshow – Driving Clean Growth Across The UK!

Launched in 2018 by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the inaugural Green GB Week was a programme of events, across the country, designed to engage with British businesses and consumers, and promote Clean Growth.

Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, Claire Perry, made a statement to the House of Commons on Green GB Week and clean growth, describing it as "an annual week designed to highlight the opportunities clean growth offers the UK and raise understanding of how business and the public can contribute to tackling climate change", claiming the "international determination to address climate change and deliver a cleaner future is one of the facts of our time and one of our greatest opportunities."

One of the flagship events within the programme was the EV Roadshow. Beginning in Durham, and hosted by Durham County Council, the Roadshow travelled to 4 cities in the 5 days, between 15th and 19th October, showcasing the very latest in electric and plug-in vehicle technology.
The idea? To engage with local businesses that operate fleets of vehicles, and to educate them on the environmental and cost benefits of integrating ultra-low emission cars and vans in to their transport operations. More than 200 fleet and transport professionals, who are collectively responsible for more than 593,450 vehicles on UK roads, joined Durham, Nottingham City Council, Bournemouth Borough Council and Bristol City Council for some presentations, networking and knowledge sharing.

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) were on hand to explain the UK Government’s Road to Zero strategy and each authority had local businesses that have already begun their ultra-low emission vehicle transition, to deliver case study presentations. Most of the presentations are available for download.

Outside in each city was the Roadshow itself… A large display of ultra-low emission vehicles, from the likes of BMW, Tesla, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Smart, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Lexus, Kia, Volvo, Mitsubishi and Hyundai. Most of the brands were offering test drive opportunities as well, giving the visitors that crucial ‘Touch, Taste, Feel experience’… important if the UK are going to instigate change.

Check out the images & videos to see the spectacle in each city, hear the views and opinions of some of the thousands that joined us over the 4 days. The reaction and response we received was phenomenal and we look forward to reaching out to thousands more in 2019!
